In April 2024, I had the pleasure of working on a truly special commission—a Fenway Park painting.
The folks who reached out to me were recently gifted tickets for Opening Day, an experience that’s nothing short of magical for any baseball fan. As a way of saying thank you, this group wanted to give something back to the generous ticket-holder. And what better way to do that than with a painting that captures the view from their seats?
It was super fun working on my palette to mix the perfect Fenway Green—a bit desaturated, contrasting beautifully with the rich, red-brown of the baseball field. Not being a baseball fan myself, it was a bit challenging to decide which details to include, especially given that this piece was just a small 5x7.
The original reference photo was taken during the day with blue, cloud-filled skies, but I made the executive decision to turn up the drama and paint the sky with a bluish-purple, evoking the feeling of dusk. That way, the stadium lights could really stand out and add a dramatic touch to the scene.
Now, just four months later, "Fenway at Dusk" has already become one of my best-selling prints! You can shop this print and card set in my online store.
