Original 8.5x11" gouache painting featuring Daphne's rendering of 3 phases of rhododenron blooming. The paper is handmade in San Francisco by woman-owned Shotwell Paper Mill. This piece is a bright white sheet made from recycled cotton rags.
From Shotwell Paper Mill's site: "We use traditional Western and Eastern papermaking techniques to produce sheets one at a time. Our paper is made from old rags, locally grown plant fibers, and/or other plant based textiles that are otherwise headed for the waste stream."
From Case for Making's site: "Since Shotwell Paper Mill's products are made in small batches from recycled materials, every run of paper has a unique history! Pam made our white cotton rag from old t-shirts, which were, in her words, "never put out in stores because they were unsellable . . . like shirts that say San Leandro Turkey Trot 2012." The pink papers are also cotton rag, created with paper scraps (acid and lignin free!) from the Stanford Hoover Institute's oversized document files."
