Reflecting on June 2024: A Record-Breaking Month for My Art Business

If I had to sum up June in one word, it would be: wow.

Looking back, I’m incredibly proud of myself for making it through eight events in one month. When I first committed to this schedule, I thought I might be a bit crazy—I was expecting chaos on a whole new level. Thankfully, it was manageable. Most of the markets were spaced 5-7 days apart, which allowed me to rest, recover, and prepare in between.

I’m currently doing everything in my art business myself. That includes designing and painting new pieces, scanning and handling the graphic design work for prints and cards, the actual printing process (which, trust me, takes forever), trimming and folding cards, packaging everything, and of course, spending hours outside at the markets. My sedan has been packed to the brim for the past six weeks with all my market setup gear—it’s been quite the adventure.

But despite all the hustle, it has been more than worth it. June turned out to be my best month of sales ever in my art business, even better than the holiday season! I’m still in shock that I had 232 orders in June. To put that into perspective, my average monthly orders this year before June were around 23. That means I literally 10x’d my average in one month. It’s hard to process, and I’m so grateful to each and every one of you who made a purchase.

A year ago, I was so stressed in my corporate job that I was wearing a heart monitor. Then in July 2023, I picked up a set of watercolors and later gouache paint, and it brought me joy and hope. Now, 12 months later, I haven’t even considered going back to a corporate job. The support you’ve shown me, my art, and my art business has made that possible.

For me, it’s not just about the orders. It’s about you coming to my table, taking a business card, seeing your eyes light up when you look at my work. It’s the comments and shares on social media, and the newsletter subscriptions. Those small acts of support are what keep me going. They add up and have helped me grow and reach this point, and I’m so thankful.

I’m not going to pretend that I’ve fully replaced my corporate salary or that I’m living comfortably from my art business just yet. There’s still a long way to go. But I can see the growth, and I’m starting to lay out a path for the future. There’s uncertainty and risk, but so far, it’s a risk I’m willing to take.

Thank you for being part of this journey 💙
